46th Nordic Film Days Luebeck
04.11.-07.11.2004

Members of the Interfilm Jury: Ilze Abrama (Assistant Director Latvian Lutheran Hour, Latvia), Ralf Meister (Propst in the Kirchenkreis Luebeck, Germany), Jes Nysten (Pastor and Film Critic, Denmark), Dr. Christiane Schlüter (Journalist, Germany)

On the occasion of the 46th Nordic Film Days Luebeck 2004 the Jury awards the INTERFILM Church Film Prize amounting to 2,500 EUR to:

Uno / Uno / Uno
by Aksel Hennie, Norway 2004, 103 min.

The film tells how a young man breaks out of a vicious circle of violence and revenge by refusing to accept the traditional values of the people who surround him. In making this decision he accepts responsibility for himself and his family. The film is convincing in its depiction of the young man and his mentally handicapped brother. The protagonist’s process of maturing is sensitively and at the same time recognizably depicted for the viewers.

A commendation the jury gives to:

Aftermath / Lasset die Kinder / Lad de små børn
by Paprika Steen, Denmark 2004, 104 min.

The film treats the difficult topic of parents who have lost a child with respect and empathy. It helps to better understand the situation of those involved and shows that it is possible to succeed in remaining a couple while living through this difficult crisis.
