AWARD OF THE ECUMENICAL JURY

The Ecumenical Jury at the 47th International Film Festival for Children and Youth in Zlin awards its Prize to a film in the Feature Film Competition for Youth:

The story of four female rappers living on the outskirts of Sao Paulo is simply but efficiently told. Its dynamic style is powerful and makes the audience both believe it and feel it. The story stresses the importance of respect, friendship and dignity.

A commendation is given to a film in the Feature Film Competition for Children to

Kidz in da Hood /Förortsungar
by Ylva Gustavsson and Catti Edfeldt, Sweden 2006

It is the story of a little immigrant girl left alone in a suburb of Stockholm. She fights for her new family with help from her new friends. The film stresses the theme of responsibility towards children of the world. Its style is comprehensible and amusing for both children and adults.
