An INTERFILM Jury with the members Dietmar Adler, Bad Münder (Germany), Agris Sutra, Riga (Latvia), and Susan Skogstad, Helsing?r (Denmark), was present at the IFF Arsenals Riga for the third time. The jury awarded the following prizes:
The INTERFILM PRIZE for a film in the International Competition is awarded to
Stellet Licht (Silent Light) by Carlos Reygadas, Mexico/France/Netherlands/Germany 2007
The film shows with excellent pictures a story among Dutch Mennonites in Mexico, dealing with guilt and forgiveness and the importance of not judging others.
A Commendation of INTERFILM for a film in the International Competition is awarded to
Chop Shop, by Ramin Bahrani, USA 2007

This film deals with a story about a boy’s hope and disappointment while living in sordid surroundings in New York. His own values have to be adapted to the adult’s world.
The INTERFILM PRIZE for a film in the Baltic Competition is awarded to
Klass (The Class), by Ilmaar Raag, Estonia 2007
The film describes in an impressive way the dangers of extreme bullying among young people and no-way-out situations that lead to desperate acting.
A Commendation of INTERFILM for a documentary in the Baltic Competition is awarded to
Ci˛a acim (Little Bird’s Diary), by Edmunds Jansons, Latvia 2007

This film shows with a sense of courage and self-critical humour how a Latvian woman is looking back on her life, converting her wonderful drawings into animated film.
