Award of the Ecumenical Jury

The Ecumencal Jury awards the Ecumenical Film Prize to

Kamienna Cisza (Stone Silence)
by Krzysztof Kopczynski, Poland 2007

Statement of the Jury:
In this afghani village, has Amina, a married woman, been stoned for adultery? The fascinating pictures of the movie are driving the viewer through the labyrinth of truths and lies, unsaid and contradictions, whereby the village community endeavours to confront the pressures on it from law, religion, tradition and human feelings. Through a tense search for truth, the film provocatively puts on stage the biblical words. „He who is without sin, let him throw the first stone“
